Caerau Men’s Shed – Mission
As a Charity our mission here at Caerau Men’s Shed is to provide a new way for men to pursue their interests, develop new ones, belong to a unique group, feel useful, fulfilled and have a sense of belonging.
Since starting the Charity we have seen a rise in the need to support men in the local community who either through family circumstances or health issues are subject to social isolation. Indeed, in our group we have several members who previously have found themselves in dire need of help and whose lives have been turned around by attending the Men’s Shed.
The charity has made such a difference to these men’s lives that we want to help more men in similar circumstances. To do this we have set up a campaign to raise awareness of men in social isolation and the benefits of being part of a local Men’s Shed.
2020 Calendar Campaign
For the past 2 years we have produced a calendar to help raise awareness of Social Isolation and the Men’s Health with an emphasis on Mental Health.
This year with the support of Men’s Shed Cymru, local Assembly Members and local businesses we have decided to take this us step further and create a campaign that will be structured around the making of a calendar and a documentary video and will be promoted across TV, Radio and in the Press.
We are really pleased to be sponsored this year by Dr Bridget NLP. In September Dr Bridget, who is an ex-GP, came and gave us a talk all about mindset and how we can overcome difficulties.
The theme of the campaign will follow six important areas of life which we feel are essential for promoting a healthy physical and mental life.

– Family
– Friends
Our aim is to raise awareness of the issues men face and help men to beat social isolation and loneliness by addressing these important areas of life. Check out our video from last year’s campaign to see how much fun can be made when a few grumpy old guys get together!
